2018 Summer Program

Home to eight of the last twelve high school All-Americans in Hampton Roads, the Peninsula Patriots provide committed lacrosse players elite instruction from outstanding, veteran coaches. The mission is simple: help boys become the best that they can be by actually teaching them -- and the results are tangible: the Patriots are the longest-running travel program in the area and boast numerous graduates successfully competing at the college level.

New for the summer of 2018, the Patriots will be mirroring their teams after those formed by most area youth programs. Open tryouts for U12, U14 and two HS boys lacrosse travel teams will be conducted on Sundays during the months of March and April with the exception of Easter Sunday. These evaluations will be held in conjunction with the Commonwealth Lacrosse 2018 Spring Advanced Training Program. A final tryout for any remaining roster spots will be conducted on Sunday, May 6. Evaluations must be scheduled in advance.

A tryout fee of $20 (which will be applied to Patriots program fees upon selection to a team) and an Application & Waiver Form must be submitted prior to trying out for the Patriots. All participants (including returnees) must also be members of US Lacrosse.

Practices for all teams will begin in early May and be held once or twice a week through the end of June. Most, if not all, practices will be conducted at the Warhill Sports Complex in Williamsburg and at the TowneBank Athletic Park in Newport News.

The U12 and U14 teams will compete in the following tournaments:

The Tournament HS team will compete in the following tournaments:

The Showcase HS team, which focuses more on recruiting exposure and boasts numerous program graduates on NCAA varsity rosters, will compete in the following tournaments:

The cost of participation, which includes all practice sessions and tournament entry fees, is as follows:

  • U12 and U14 Teams: $400
  • Tournament and Showcase HS Teams: $550

Newcomers to the program will also be required to purchase a two-sided, fully-sublimated team jersey for an additional $50. There is also an option to purchase matching team shorts.

For more information, or to schedule a tryout for the Patriots, please contact Chris Swanenburg at (443) 690-7683 or at director@capitallacrosse.com.
