APPLICATION & WAIVER FORM

2024 Early Season Advanced Training & Officiated Game Play

Open to boys from all programs, schools and travel organizations. Get the rust off and prepare for the season ahead!

Commonwealth Lacrosse Director Chris Swanenburg will be overseeing advanced teaching sessions for boys in grades 4-12 interested in improving their skill sets and understanding of the sport of lacrosse.

At the high school level, sessions will include an hour of professionally officiated game play.

The program will be held for five consecutive Sundays (February 11, 18 & 25 and March 3 & 10) with all sessions being conducted on artificial turf fields at Norfolk Collegiate in Norfolk. Youth instruction will take place from 1:00-2:45. The high school sessions will take place from 2:45-5:00.

Enrollment is open to boys of moderate to high lacrosse ability from all programs, schools and/or travel teams. Full equipment (including a mouth guard) is required as there will be limited body contact during drill work and potentially full body contact during game play.

Both the youth and high school sessions will consist of position-specific instruction and small-sided drill work, with participants receiving the same training and coaching that Coach Swanenburg has used to develop numerous high school and college All-Americans and future professional lacrosse players alike. Boys will be grouped by grade and ability level and receive personalized instruction. At the high school level, following skill development and training, boys will be divided into teams for game play.

Coach Swanenburg was an All-Ivy goalie at Yale University and has twenty years of NCAA college coaching experience. In addition to having been a Division I head coach at Radford University for seven seasons, Swanenburg started the program at Christopher Newport University. He has also been a fixture in the Hampton Roads lacrosse community, having spent the last thirteen years helping develop some of the areas most accomplished athletes. Dozens of his players have earned All-American distinction and have gone on to successfully compete at the NCAA Division I, II and III or MCLA levels..

The cost for the program is $125 for boys in grades 4-8 and $175 for boys in grades 9-12. Enrollment is limited and both 2023 sessions sold out.

Registration is being conducted on a first-come, first-served basis. Boys interested in participating must be members of USA Lacrosse and submit an online registration form. Upon receipt of both the form and payment, a confirmation email with greater details will be sent.

For more information, or should you have any questions, please contact Chris Swanenburg at (443) 690-7683 or at director@capitallacrosse.com.
